CAMBRIDGE, MA October 19, 2016 – TriNetX, the health research network, has added UC Health, the University of Cincinnati’s affiliated health system, to its network. The TriNetX network is comprised of healthcare organizations, biopharmaceutical companies and contract research organizations (CROs) who are working together to enhance clinical trial design, improve site selection and accelerate patient recruitment.

Through the agreement, biopharmaceutical researchers will gain access to UC Health’s de-identified clinical data through TriNetX’s rapidly expanding network of healthcare organizations representing 57 million patients globally. The data will be used to support clinical study and protocol design, site selection, patient recruitment, collaborative research and grant funding opportunities across a range of therapeutic areas and development stages.

UC Health is leveraging the TriNetX network to drive multiple industry-sponsored clinical trials into its academic health system; to enable UC Health researchers discover patients for investigator-initiated studies; and to collaborate with other peer research organizations.

Users of the TriNetX system can analyze patient populations with search criteria using multiple longitudinal data points, and TriNetX’s advanced analytics modules provide intelligence on which criteria have the most impact as well as the rate at which new patients present. Each data point in the TriNetX system can be traced to healthcare organizations who have the ability to identify individual patients, allowing clinical researchers to develop virtual patient cohorts that can be found in real-world clinical trial settings. Data in the TriNetX system is fully de-identified to the user.

“UC Health is committed to providing the highest level of advanced specialty care and cutting edge treatment options to our patients and community. As the region’s only academic health system, our researchers focus on clinical trials which can provide many patients the best possible options for their care. The academic difference is what sets us apart,” said Christopher Lindsell, PhD, vice president for research at UC Health and associate dean for clinical research at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

“This collaboration provides additional possibilities to improve the health of our patients while leading the practice of medicine to provide superlative top-tier treatments to our community and beyond,” added Lindsell.

“UC Health is driving groundbreaking research through innovation and collaboration with industry. The TriNetX network will further illuminate UC Health’s capabilities as a sought-after destination for sponsored clinical research programs,” said Gadi Lachman, CEO, TriNetX.
