We’re pleased to recognize Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TCVGH) as our Q2 2026 Network Spotlight winner!

 TCVGH has embraced real-world data (RWD) to drive clinical research and deliver evidence-based care. Through their partnership with TriNetX, the institution has strengthened activities ranging from hypothesis generation to evidence development, offering an example of how healthcare organizations can use global data networks to advance medical research.

Connecting Local Excellence to Global Research

TCVGH joined TriNetX to strengthen the use of RWD in clinical research and evidence-based medical decision-making. Their goals included shortening the gap between study design and data validation and enhancing the international visibility, credibility, and reproducibility of research outputs.

TriNetX has become a core infrastructure supporting data-driven clinical research at the institution, helping researchers access standardized data that accelerates the research process and enhances the quality of scientific outputs.

Diverse Applications Across Research Domains

TriNetX is used across multiple scenarios, including:

  • Real-world evidence (RWE) study design and feasibility assessments
  • Multicenter and multinational retrospective cohort studies
  • Clinical outcome and safety analyses
  • Validation and impact assessment of AI-based clinical models
  • Hypothesis generation and early-stage research exploration

From Single Team to Institution-Wide Platform

The TriNetX user base at TCVGH spans multiple clinical specialties and research units and has expanded over time from a single research team into a cross-departmental, multi-disciplinary platform that supports institutional collaboration and the integration of research resources.

To date, 131 users have completed both TriNetX account registration and Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval processes. This expansion reflects the platform’s value across diverse medical specialties, from cardiology to oncology, from internal medicine to surgical specialties.

Research Impact: 33 Publications and Growing

Research conducted through the TriNetX platform has resulted in 33 peer-reviewed publications, underscoring the platform’s role in TCVGH’s clinical research infrastructure and its contribution to internationally impactful RWE generation.

These publications represent more than just numbers; they embody research that advances medical understanding and has the potential to improve patient care worldwide. Each publication validates the investment TCVGH made in joining the TriNetX network and demonstrates the power of federated health data networks to accelerate discovery.

Enabling Research and Supporting Collaboration

TriNetX has enabled both the acceleration of ongoing studies and the initiation of new projects, and has supported collaboration with research sponsors through feasibility assessments, cohort validation, and data-driven study planning.

TriNetX has also provided support in feasibility evaluation, research design refinement, and early data generation, which has strengthened the scientific rigor and competitiveness of applications for RWE and AI-related research grants. This capability is particularly valuable in today’s research environment, where thorough planning and preliminary data can make the difference in securing funding.

A Vision for Continued Growth

Looking ahead, TCVGH plans to:

  • Broaden participation across clinical departments and hospital campuses;
  • Integrate TriNetX with AI research, clinical decision support, and digital health initiatives;
  • Support prospective study planning and multi-source data validation; and
  • Strengthen international collaborations through multinational RWE studies.

Through these efforts, TriNetX will continue to serve as a central platform linking clinical practice, research, and innovation at TCVGH.

Celebrating Excellence in Research

TriNetX is honored to partner with Taichung Veterans General Hospital in their mission to advance medical science through RWE. Their impressive growth from initial adoption to 131 active users, 33 publications, and comprehensive integration across multiple research domains exemplifies the potential of federated health data networks.

As they continue to expand their use of TriNetX and explore new applications in AI validation and international collaboration, we look forward to celebrating many more milestones in this partnership.
