1. Why did you join the TriNetX network?
The Hospital Sírio-Libanês is a centennial institution dedicated to promoting integrated healthcare, teaching, and research activities. We prioritize translational and clinical research to implement new clinical practices and innovative technologies and to improve healthcare. We were impressed by TriNetX’s global network of healthcare organizations, and our primary motivation was to increase our capacity to generate knowledge and the advancement of health care. Joining TriNetX increased significantly our capacity to attract clinical trials and patient recruitment as well as studies based on RWE.
2. What are your use cases for TriNetX?
We continue to use TriNetX to attract and expedite clinical trials. However, as we became more familiar with the platform, we realized it offers an invaluable source of real-world data for conducting retrospective observational studies on patient outcomes and treatment efficacy. The potential to conduct such studies has far exceeded our expectations. Additionally, TriNetX’s user-friendly interface, built-in analytics tools, and responsive support team have been game-changers, significantly lowering the barriers for clinicians and researchers using the platform.
3. How do you hope to maximize expansion with TriNetX into the future?
To enhance our expansion, we will focus on strengthening data capabilities and interoperability by improving EMR integration and ensuring data quality and completeness. We are currently testing a natural language processing (NLP) approach to extract unstructured information from EMR and physician notes. Additionally, we will implement real-time cohort analysis to select patients for trials more efficiently. We also plan to promote investigator-initiated research by offering training programs for clinicians and researchers on how to effectively use TriNetX. Lastly, we will leverage the TriNetX network to increase our institutional visibility and impact by fostering stronger collaborations with academic institutions, research consortia, and global networks.
