Jeff Margolis is a healthcare and IT entrepreneur, systems design innovator, and former CEO and Chairman of Welltok, a leading healthcare consumer activation company. He previously founded, chaired, and led TriZetto, the first vertical SaaS enterprise solution serving more than 130 million insured lives. Jeff also originated the systematic concepts of Integrated Healthcare Management and Health Optimization, notably codifying both into commercial data and software companies. He serves on the boards of TriNetX, DNAnexus, Get-Grin Inc., and Brightside Health, and chairs the Advisory Board at the Center for Digital Transformation at the University of California, Irvine. He is a Senior Advisor to Blackstone and an NACD Board Leadership Fellow. Jeff is also a published author of ‘Not Just in Sickness But Also in Health’ and ‘The Healthcare Cure’, and a frequent industry speaker.

Joe Bress is a Managing Director at The Carlyle Group, focused on private equity opportunities in the healthcare sector. Since joining Carlyle in 2007, he has been involved in investing and managing more than $4 billion of equity investments in global healthcare companies. He currently serves on the boards of TriNetX, PPD, WellDyneRx, Albany Molecular Research, Corro Health, and Millicent Pharma. Joe was previously involved in investments including Rede D’Or Sao Luiz, Grand Rounds, X-Chem, and Visionary RCM. He began his career at UBS in mergers and acquisitions. Joe earned his MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and his AB from Harvard College, graduating magna cum laude.

As a Partner on Deerfield’s Private Transactions team, Leslie Henshaw works with healthcare services and tech companies that are both current and potential investment partners across the investment spectrum. Before joining Deerfield in 2005, she launched and co-managed an ING-branded healthcare hedge fund and spent 11 years in investment banking, high yield research, and equity research at Furman Selz and ING, focused exclusively on healthcare. Earlier in her career, Leslie spent two years as a member of the national healthcare consulting practice of Price Waterhouse. She graduated with High Honors from Wesleyan University and earned her MBA from the University of Chicago. Leslie currently serves on the boards of five Deerfield portfolio companies.

Gadi Lachman has held leadership positions at TriZetto, American Well, and Eliza. He was also at Lehman Brothers and was an Officer in Israeli Special Forces. Gadi earned his MBA at Harvard Business School, and his LLB in law and B.C. in accounting from Tel-Aviv University.

Ian Read began his career at Pfizer in 1978, becoming CEO in 2010 and Chairman in 2011. During his tenure as CEO, Pfizer delivered a 250% total shareholder return, secured 32 FDA approvals, and made strategic investments and acquisitions that strengthened its R&D pipeline. Prior to this, Read held senior positions in several of the company’s largest, fastest-growing operations, including Senior Vice President and Group President of Pfizer’s Worldwide Biopharmaceutical Businesses, Chief Financial Officer of Pfizer Mexico, and Country Manager of Pfizer Brazil. Read continues to serve on the board of directors of Kimberly-Clark and Viatris.

Luna Yang is a Principal at The Carlyle Group focused on private equity investments in the healthcare sector. Since joining Carlyle in 2017, Ms. Yang has been involved in a number of investments, including Included Health, One Medical, TriNetX, Saama, and WellDyne. Prior to joining Carlyle, Ms. Yang worked at Golden Gate Capital in San Francisco and McKinsey & Co. in New York. She received her MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS from Stanford University.

Naoki Aoyama is Senior Vice President of the Wellness Business Division at Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc., overseeing the firm’s wellness, healthcare, and life sciences portfolio in the US. With over 20 years of global experience, he currently serves as a director of the board of Mitsui’s subsidiaries in the healthcare staffing and HCIT businesses in the US, and has represented Mitsui on the boards of various public/private companies, including MED3OOO, Fuji Pharma, MIMS, and Parkway Pantai. Naoki has played an instrumental role in Mitsui’s successful investments across early-to-mature-stage businesses such as Quintiles Transnational/Japan, NovaQuest Capital Management, SomaLogic, IHH Healthcare, Columbia Asia, Keimed, and Sogo Medical. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration and Commerce from Keio University.

Joseph Volpe has over two decades of healthcare investment experience, combining technical and commercial expertise to identify emerging technologies. Considered one of the industry’s leading corporate investors, he currently serves on the boards of TriNetX, Prognos, Preventice, ClearDATA, and Exostar, and previously held board roles with Koneksa, Mihealth, Aptus Health, Liaison, and more. Joe has been instrumental in transforming Merck’s Global Health Innovation Fund into a leader in venture capital and M&A, with notable successes including Humedica’s sale to UnitedHealth Group with a 17-fold return. Earlier in his career, he spent over 20 years at Johnson & Johnson in innovation and investment roles and was a consultant with EDS. Joe holds a degree in Business/Information Systems and Engineering from the University of South Florida.
